P. R. Chikans

Our shop, P. R. Chikans, is located on Kotwali Road. We are quite close to the Central Bank Chowk, which is a very busy intersection. If you’ve ever been down Kotwali Road, you know how much traffic there is. We are right in the middle of all that action. We handle a lot of chikan work here. It’s a tradition that’s been around for a long time, and we just try to keep it going in our own way. The shop isn't very large, but we make use of every inch of space we have. You’ll find piles of white and colored fabric all over the place. We spend hours looking at the stitching and making sure it looks right. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing. Usually, we have the door open to get some air, so the sounds of the road come right in. We don’t mind it. It’s just the sound of the city. Being near Central Bank Chowk means we get all sorts of people walking by. Some stop in to look, others are just passing through. We aren't a high-end showroom with bright lights and fancy carpets. We are just a working shop on Kotwali Road. We take our work seriously, but we don't put on any acts. We just show up, work on the chikan pieces, and help whoever comes through the door. It’s a simple life for us here. We just try to do our best with every piece we touch.
