Our base is located at number 106 in Sherpur Khelmau. It’s a rural area, which is exactly where we need to be for this kind of work. We are a group of local farmers working together as a collective. It’s not like a regular company where there’s one big boss telling everyone what to do. We all have a say in how things go during our weekly meetings. Mostly we deal with organic farming and helping each other get our crops to the market. Sherpur Khelmau is a small place, so everyone knows what we’re doing out here. We spend a lot of time out in the fields or sitting around the common area at 106 talking about the next crop cycle. The soil in this part of the country is good, but organic farming takes a lot more manual effort than the usual way. We have to be very careful about what we use on the ground. There’s quite a bit of paperwork too, which none of us really likes doing, but it has to be finished for the records. We aren't looking to become some massive corporation with a fancy headquarters. We just want to make sure our families are taken care of and the land stays healthy for the next generation. Sometimes our meetings go on much too long because everyone has a different opinion on the seeds. But that’s just how it works when you’re a group. It’s just how we get things done.
