Janta Saree Emporium

You can find our shop at No. 86 in the New Nakkhas Market. It is right near the Chowk area, which is always packed with people and rickshaws no matter what time it is. Our place isn't very large, but we manage to fit a lot of sarees onto the shelves. We have been here in this market for a long time, and most of the other shopkeepers are like family to us. It can be a bit of a maze to find us if you aren't familiar with Nakkhas. We keep all sorts of fabrics, from simple cottons to heavier silks. In the summer months, it gets very hot in the market, but we keep the ceiling fans going all day. Customers usually sit on the floor cushions while we pull down bundles to show them the different colors and patterns. It is the old-fashioned way of doing things, and we like it that way. My father ran this shop before me, and I have just kept things going as they were. We don't have a website or do any online selling. People just walk in when they are passing through the market. Sometimes they stay for a long time just talking and looking at the new arrivals. It is a busy life, and there is always noise from the street, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
