Golden General & Provision Centre

My family has been running the Golden General & Provision Centre for a while now. We are located right in the Manas Complex over in Aliganj. If you know Kursi Road in Lucknow, you know how busy it gets around here with all the traffic and people moving about. We keep the shelves filled with the usual stuff people need like flour, oil, and soap. Some days it is just me behind the counter, other days my cousin helps out when he is not busy with his own work. The shop isn't fancy or anything, just some old shelves and a cool cement floor that feels nice in the summer. We mostly see the same faces every morning when they come for milk or bread before starting their day. It gets dusty because of the road work nearby, but that is just how things are in this part of Lucknow. I usually open up early and stay until the lights on Kursi Road start flickering. Sometimes the neighborhood kids come in just to look at the candy jars and I don't mind as long as they don't knock things over. Living and working in Aliganj means you get to know everyone's business, which can be a lot sometimes, but it makes the day go by faster. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the deliveries come late and there are boxes sitting in the middle of the floor for a bit. That is just life at the shop.
