The building sits right on Gokhale Marg in Hazratganj, just across from where the CID office is. It's a busy part of Lucknow, and you can always hear the traffic hum outside while students are inside hunched over their books. Most days start pretty early here. We have rows of benches that have seen better days, but they do the job for anyone sitting down to figure out their exam papers. The walls are mostly covered with old notices and schedules that keep changing as new exam dates come out from the government. People walk in from the heat of the street, grab a seat, and just get to work. It isn't a fancy place with glass walls or anything like that. It’s more of a practical space where people come because they have a goal in mind. Sometimes the chai wala from around the corner brings over a tray of tea when things get too quiet in the afternoons. You see a lot of the same faces every day, young guys and girls carrying heavy bags filled with practice manuals and notes they’ve scribbled on the bus. The fans overhead make a bit of noise, but nobody really minds it much once they get into their study rhythm. It feels like a small community of people all trying to move forward. We’ve been at this address for a while, seeing the city change around us, but the focus inside these rooms stays pretty much the same every year.
