Durgma Helping Foundation

Durgma Helping Foundation operates out of a Type 2 residence on Havelak Road in Lucknow. It’s C/O Arvind Kumar Upadhyay, so it feels more like a home than a sterile office. We have rooms filled with supplies and papers instead of normal house stuff. Working from a place like 3/9 Havelak Road means we are right in the middle of everything. You can hear the sounds of the city all day long. We don't have a big marketing budget or a team of experts. It’s just us, the local residents, putting in the hours. Sometimes the plumbing acts up or the lights flicker, but that’s just part of being in an older building in this part of Lucknow. We focus on getting things done rather than looking important. People drop by at all hours because they know where to find us. It’s a bit informal, maybe even a little messy sometimes, but that’s because we are actually busy doing the work. We sit on the old sofas and discuss what needs to happen next. It’s not a high-tech setup. We use what we have. Most of our days are spent talking to folks who need a bit of support or guidance. Being in a Type 2 government-style quarter keeps us grounded. It reminds us why we started this in the first place, just staying close to the people and the street where all the real activity happens every day.
