Nupur Handi Craft And Women Uplift Society is located at A 339 in Indira Nagar. It’s basically a house that we turned into a workspace. You can usually hear the sound of sewing machines or people talking if you walk by during the day. It’s a nice neighborhood, mostly quiet except for the local vegetable sellers who come around. The women here come from all over the nearby areas to work on different crafts. We make things by hand, so nothing is ever perfectly the same, but that’s just how it goes. We started this because there wasn't much for the local women to do to earn some extra money. Now, the place is always full of fabric and threads. Sometimes it’s a bit messy with all the materials lying around, but we know where everything is. It’s not like a big factory or a corporate office. It’s just us sitting together and getting things done. We have a lot of tea and share stories while we work. Indira Nagar is a good place for this because it feels like a real community. People know us by the house number and stop in to see what new things we’ve made. It’s a bit crowded in the main room when everyone is here, but we manage. We aren't trying to be some huge company, just a place where women can work and feel okay about it.
