Deep Chandra Kirana Store

Narhi Bazar is always a bit of a scramble, and our shop, Deep Chandra Kirana Store, sits right in the Sitaram Building. Being in this part of Lucknow means there is always noise from the street outside. We start early, usually before the bazaar really gets crowded. The building itself is older, and you can feel that when you're inside. We don't have fancy lights or big signs. It’s just shelves filled with pulses, rice, and cooking oils. Most of our day is spent weighing out things or searching for that one specific brand of spice someone wants. Sometimes the bags of flour are heavy to move, and our backs feel it by the evening. We try to keep things in order, but when three or four people are waiting at the counter at once, it gets a little messy. We don't do anything special, just sell the regular groceries people need for their dinners. The floor is concrete and shows its age, but it’s easy to sweep. We see a lot of people who work in the nearby offices stopping by on their way to the rickshaw stand. It’s a simple way to make a living, even if it gets exhausting when the heat of the afternoon hits the shop front. We just keep the fan going and wait for the evening rush to start. It’s just how things go here in Narhi every single day.
