Classic Chikan Emporium

You can find Classic Chikan Emporium down in the lower ground floor, specifically units 5 and 6 of the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Complex. Being on Tulsidas Marg in the Chowk area means it’s always crowded and loud outside. Down here in the L.G.F., it’s a bit cooler but you can still hear the rikshaws and people shouting. We’ve got stacks of clothes everywhere, and sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit down. We spend a lot of time just moving piles from one side of the room to the other. The lighting isn’t the best, but we’ve put in a few extra bulbs so we can see the fine details on the fabric. It’s a busy life in Chowk. We usually have tea delivered from the stall around the corner a couple of times a day. We don’t have any fancy brochures or catalogues. People just walk in, look through the stacks, and see what they like. The complex itself is quite old and the stairs can be a bit steep if you aren’t used to them. We’ve been in these units for quite some time now, and we know exactly which floorboard creaks when you walk over it. It’s a bit cramped, but it feels like home to us. We just keep our heads down and handle the work as it comes in.
