Chikan Paridhan

You can find us at U. G. F - 16 in the Aarohi Trade Center. We are right near the Chowk Chauraha, which is always a hectic spot with people and traffic moving in every direction. Being on the upper ground floor means we get a good bit of foot traffic from folks shopping in the area. Chikan Paridhan is basically just a room filled with piles of cloth and finished pieces. We spend our days sorting through the embroidery and making sure the threads are right. The lighting in the trade center isn't always the best, but we have some extra lamps to help us see the fine details. It gets pretty loud during the peak shopping hours, but we are used to it by now. We usually keep some water for guests because the walk up from the street can be tiring when it's hot out. We don’t really bother with big displays or anything. Most people just come in and start looking through the stacks themselves. It’s a very hands-on kind of shop. We have a small counter where we do the packing and the bills. Sometimes we run out of space when a new shipment comes in, so you might have to step over a few bags. That’s just part of life at the Chowk. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors all know us by name. It is a busy life.
