Charan Sahay Foundation

Our office is at 2/246, Vikas Khand in Gomtinagar. It is a quiet residential area, which suits us just fine. The foundation was set up because a few of us retired folks and some younger neighbors wanted to stay active in helping the local community. We don't have a big corporate board or anything like that. We just meet up a few times a week to see what needs attention in the neighborhood. Sometimes it is about making sure the parks are kept up, or helping a local family who is going through a tough patch after a job loss. We try to keep things very informal. You won’t find anyone in a tie here. We usually have the fan going and some biscuits on the table while we talk. The work isn't always exciting or fast-paced. A lot of it is just making phone calls or writing letters to get things fixed in the neighborhood. We’ve all lived in Gomtinagar for a long time, so we really care about what happens to it. We aren't looking to grow into a giant organization. We just like knowing our neighbors and being able to offer a bit of support when it is needed. It is just about being good citizens and looking out for one another in a practical way. We take it one day at a time and do what we can with our time.
