Arshad General Store

Arshad General Store is located on G L Mathur Road in the Muftiganj area of Lucknow. We are right in the heart of the Chowk section, which as everyone knows, is always full of life and noise. Our shop is not anything fancy to look at from the outside. We have a wooden counter and shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling. We sell everything from lentils and spices to soap and small toys for kids. Being in Muftiganj means we have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for years. My father and I run the place together. We do not really have a set closing time, we usually just wait until the street starts to quiet down at night. The lanes here are narrow, so getting the stock in can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. We have to carry the sacks of grain by hand from the main road. We do not use any fancy software to keep track of things; we just know what is in stock by looking at the shelves. It is a traditional way of doing business, but it works for us and our neighbors. People stop by to chat about the local news while they wait for us to weigh out their flour or sugar. It is a friendly atmosphere, and we like being part of this community in old Lucknow. We try to keep prices fair for everyone.
