Arohini Women Empowerment Association

Arohini Women Empowerment Association is located in Lucknow. You can find us at 2/99 B in Vikas Khand, which is part of the Gomti Nagar area. Gomti Nagar is a big, sprawling place, but our corner in Vikas Khand is relatively easy to navigate. We operate out of a regular building that looks like many others on the street. Inside, it’s mostly just us working on various projects. We don't have a front desk or a receptionist. If the bell rings, whoever is closest to the door goes to open it. The rooms are filled with supplies and stacks of documents. We spend a lot of time on the phone or sitting around a large table planning out what to do next. It is a bit disorganized at times, especially when we are preparing for a meeting. We focus on what women in our community need. Sometimes that means a lot of listening and other times it's about finding resources. The tea shop nearby is where we usually take our breaks. It’s a very local operation. We aren't some big NGO with hundreds of staff. It’s just a group of people in a Lucknow suburb who have been doing this for a bit. We’ve been in this spot for a while and the landlord is decent. It’s a practical space for the kind of work we do every day.
