Andaz Salon

If you are walking around Aliganj Dandiya Bazaar in Lucknow, you’ll find us right in front of house number 3. We are quite close to the police chauki at Chand Ganj, so it’s easy to find. Andaz Salon is just a local spot where people come to get their hair sorted out. The shop isn't huge, but we make it work with what we have. I usually have the radio playing in the background, mostly old songs that everyone knows. The floor is almost always covered in hair because it’s hard to sweep up every single second when people are coming in. We have those big mirrors that have seen better days, showing a few spots here and there. It’s a lively neighborhood and there is always something going on outside on the street. Customers often pop in while they are out doing their shopping at the bazaar. We talk about local things, like the traffic or a new shop opening up nearby. I don't use any fancy machines, just my usual scissors and clippers that I’ve had for a while. Sometimes the tea man from across the street brings over a glass and we take a quick break. It’s a simple life running a salon in this part of Lucknow. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us working the chairs and making sure nobody waits too long. It feels good to be a regular part of the Aliganj community.
