Ananya Beauty Parlour

Ananya Beauty Parlour is over in Rajaji Puram in Lucknow, zip code 226001. It is mostly a residential area, so our shop is a bit quieter than those on the main highways. We are tucked away on a side street where there isn't too much noise from the big buses. The parlour is just a small room we converted so we could work from here. We have a few shelves with various bottles and jars of cold cream and talcum powder. Most of our customers are the ladies who live in the blocks nearby. They come in during the afternoons once their kids are at school or they have finished the cooking. We do the usual things like eyebrows and putting on henna when there is a wedding in the family. It is a very casual place where you can just come in your house clothes and chat for a bit. We have a small curtain for privacy and a few plastic chairs for anyone waiting. The floor is made of stone and stays cool even when the Lucknow heat is bad outside. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything, people just hear about us from their neighbors. It's a small way to stay busy and help the local women with their basic beauty needs. We've been here for a few years now. Most days are pretty predictable but we like the routine.
