Ajmeri Hair Cutting

Ajmeri Hair Cutting is located on Subhash Marg in Lucknow, which is one of the older parts of the city. The shop is at the 226004 address and it feels like it has been part of the street forever. It is a very simple setup with wooden cabinets and some old chairs that have been repaired many times. We don't have air conditioning, just a big ceiling fan that spins fast and makes a clicking sound. Subhash Marg is always crowded with people buying things and bikes zooming past the front door. We mostly do haircuts and shaves for the men in the neighborhood. We have a drawer full of different combs and those metal scissors that we have to oil every morning. The mirror is large and covers almost one whole wall, so the shop feels a bit bigger than it really is. Most of the people who come here are workers or shopkeepers from the nearby markets. They come in for a quick shave before they start their day. We don't have any computer or fancy booking system, people just show up and wait their turn. Sometimes we sit on the steps outside when it's slow and watch the traffic go by. It’s just a regular hair cutting shop like any other in this part of Lucknow, nothing more and nothing less. We keep a stack of newspapers for people to read while they wait. The floor is concrete and we sweep it after every customer.
