Down in Liromoba, in the West Siang district, the hills are always green. Liromoba Agro Organic Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited is run by Komjum Romin and a bunch of us from the local villages near Bame. We are all people who have lived in this part of Arunachal Pradesh our whole lives. Farming is what we know. We decided to create this producer company because it’s getting harder and harder for small farmers to survive on their own. By joining up, we can share the costs of tools and transport. We don't use any synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. We stick to what we’ve always used, which is mostly compost and natural stuff from the farm. The work is physically demanding. We are out there early every morning, checking the leaves and clearing the brush. Sometimes the wild animals get into the crops, and that’s a real setback, but you just keep going. We aren't trying to change the world or anything. We just want to make sure that the people in Liromoba can keep farming and that our produce stays clean and healthy. It’s a lot of coordination and talking with each other to make sure everyone is on the same page. We're proud of the work we do, even if it’s just small-scale farming in a quiet corner of the state.
