Vanva Dragonfruit Farmer Producer Company Limited

We grow dragonfruit here in Haulawng and our small office is right at House No 29. It’s very easy to find because we are near the UPC Church. We started this as a small group of local farmers who wanted to work together. Dragonfruit is a bit of a strange plant but it grows well here if you give it enough sun. We spend most of our time out in the fields making sure the poles are sturdy and the plants are healthy. It is definitely not easy work and our hands often get scratched by the thorns. Sometimes the weather doesn't help us much but we have been doing this for a while now. Most of the people in the village know who we are. We just focus on getting the fruit picked and sorted properly without any fuss. Lalveng is usually a quiet spot and we handle everything from the initial planting to the final packing right here. People sometimes ask us why we chose dragonfruit but it just seems to like our soil. We do not have a big fancy office or any corporate staff. It is just the house near the church and the land we work on. We deal with the local markets mostly. It is just a bunch of us working together to make the farm run. Sometimes we have meetings at the house to talk about the next harvest. We try to keep everything simple and honest.
