Motilal Ramchandra & Sons

Our family has been running Motilal Ramchandra & Sons for a long time now. We are located at Shop No-12 in Mukkawar Chowk, which is right in the heart of Udgir. Being so close to Mg Road means there is never a quiet moment. The shop is full of character, or at least that’s what I tell myself when I see the old wooden shelves and the peeling paint on the ceiling. We sell hardware and general items that people in town need for their houses. It’s the kind of place where you can find a specific type of nail or a heavy-duty lock. We’ve kept the name of our ancestors on the board because it means something to the people around here. We don't have any automated systems. Everything is done by hand, from measuring out rope to writing the bills. The smell of the shop is a mix of metal, dust, and the incense we light every morning. Customers often stop by just to say hello and catch up on the local Udgir gossip. It’s a small space, and it gets very hot in the afternoons, but we have a big old fan that does its best. We aren't looking to change anything. We like the way the shop feels and how we know almost everyone who walks through the door. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living.
