Pandeypura Agro-Horti Producer Company Limited is based out of Latehar. We are located at Pandeypura, specifically at the home of Anil Kumar Toppo. It’s a rural setting where everyone knows everyone else’s business. Around here, agriculture is what we do to survive. We started this producer company because we wanted to organize things a bit better for the local farmers in the neighborhood. It is not always easy, especially when the weather doesn't go our way and the rain stops. We spend a lot of time talking about fruits and vegetables because that’s the horticulture side of it. Our office is just a simple space where we keep our books and meet up once in a while. There are no glass walls or air conditioning here, just a fan and some old chairs. People stop by at all hours to ask about seeds or to see what the plan is for the next season. We try to help out where we can. It’s a hands-on kind of job for everyone involved. I usually have mud on my boots by noon most days. Latehar is a nice place, though it’s a bit quiet for some people. We like it that way. We don't have a marketing team or a sales department. We just have our members and the land we work on. Sometimes we sit out on the porch and just watch the trucks go by. It’s a slow process building a company like this, but we are taking it one day at a time.
