Om Rice Mill

We’ve been at Baraili Road for quite a while now. Running Om Rice Mill is a lot of work, but it’s what we do every day. Our spot in Mohalla Bagh Gulser Khan is where all the processing happens. Pilibhit is a good place for rice because of the local farms nearby. We get the paddy in, clean it, and mill it to get the husks off. It gets very dusty in the yard, but that’s just part of the job. People around here know the mill. We don't have a fancy office or any corporate stuff. Just the machinery and the bags of rice waiting to go out to the markets. My father worked this same land, and now it’s just part of our daily life. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing them ourselves. The rain affects how we work, especially when we are trying to keep everything dry and clean inside. We try to keep the area tidy, but with so much grain moving through, it’s always a bit of a mess. You can find us right on the road, near the local neighborhood houses. It’s loud when the mill is running, so we usually have to shout to hear each other. We just keep our heads down and get the orders filled. Nothing special about it, just honest work every single day in Pilibhit. We’ve seen the area change, but the mill stays the same.
