About Sam Engineering Works – Engineering in Kutch
We are over at Plot No. I-35, and we’ve been running Sam Engineering Works from this shed for years. It’s a place filled with the sound of metal being cut and the smell of oil. We don't have a big fancy entrance, just a sliding metal door that stays open most of the day to let the light in. My son works here too, and he’s better with the newer machines than I am. We take on whatever work comes our way, from small repairs to slightly bigger jobs. The floor is always covered in metal shavings, so you have to watch where you step. We don't have a lot of space for a proper office, so the desk is just tucked into a corner near the lathe. Sometimes it takes us a bit longer to find a specific tool because we’re not the most organized people in the world, but we always find it eventually. The neighbors at the next plot usually stop by if they need a weld done quickly or want to chat. We don't have a mission statement or any of that corporate stuff. We just fix things and build what’s requested. It’s hard work and your hands get greasy, but it’s what we know how to do. We close up around seven most nights and head home to get some rest for the next day. The work keeps us busy and that is enough for us.
