Sapna Sweets

Running a shop like Sapna Sweets in Akhara Bazaar means you are right in the middle of everything in Kullu. We are located in the main market area, which is always full of people, especially during the festival seasons. We open up early to start making the batches of sweets for the day. It is a lot of work with the milk and the sugar, but we have gotten used to the heat in the kitchen. Kullu is a beautiful place to live, and being in the bazaar means we know most of our neighbors. People stop by for a chat or to pick up something for their families on their way home. The shop has been here at this address for a long time. It isn't a modern place with glass walls; it is just a regular sweet shop like many others you see in Himachal. We don't really do much advertising because the local people already know where we are. Dealing with the daily supply of ingredients can be a bit of a headache sometimes, but we manage it. The mountain air is nice, but it gets quite cold in the winters. When it is freezing outside, the kitchen feels like the best place to be. We just keep doing what we do, making the traditional items that people expect when they walk into a shop in the main market.
