Roots School Manali

Up here at Roots School Manali, things move a bit slower than down in the plains. We are located in Siyal, which is a nice enough spot tucked away from the main tourist rush of the Mall Road. Manali is a beautiful place, but when you live and work here, you mostly notice the cold mornings and the way the light hits the mountains in the afternoon. The school itself is not very large. It is just a cozy building where the kids from around 175131 come to spend their day. In the winter, we have to deal with the snow, which sometimes means we are all huddled inside with the heaters. The staff here are mostly locals who have been in the valley for years. We know most of the families by name. It is not a corporate setup at all. We just have our classrooms and a small area for playing. Sometimes you can hear the river if the wind is right. We do not have fancy marketing people writing stuff for us. We just open the doors, teach the lessons, and make sure the kids stay warm. The walls are painted a simple color and we have some old wooden furniture that has seen better days but still works fine. It is a humble place, honestly. We just focus on the daily routine of being a school in a mountain town and that is about it.
