Venkateshwara Hair Cutting Salon

I've been working at Venkateshwara Hair Cutting Salon for a long time now. We are located in Shop No 18 at Rajashree Estates in Kanuru. If you know the area, we are right opposite the Radha Krishna Rice Mill. You can usually hear the machinery from the mill when the wind blows the right way. It’s a busy little corner of Vijayawada. I open up early in the morning, usually before the sun gets too hot. There is a lot of dust from the road, but we try to keep the shop clean enough for people to sit down. My chairs are a bit old, but they are comfortable enough for a quick trim. Most people who come in live nearby or work at the mill. We don't have fancy lights or any of that music you hear in big city shops. Just a radio sometimes or we just talk about what's happening in the news. It’s mostly men coming in for a shave or a basic haircut. The fan keeps things moving when it's humid outside. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out or use the natural light from the door. It is a simple life running a shop here. I know most of the faces that walk through the door. We don't do anything complicated, just standard cuts like people have wanted for years. It's just me and a couple of combs and scissors most days.
