Sri Kousalya Dall Mill

We are located over on Bus Stand Road in Paritala. Sri Kousalya Dall Mill has been operating here for a while now, right at 8-80-5. It is mostly just a lot of hard work every day. The mill gets very dusty when the machines are running, but that is part of the job when you are processing pulses. We handle different kinds of dal, mostly getting them ready for the local markets and shops around this area. My brother and I manage the daily stuff, from watching the rollers to making sure the bags are stitched up right. It is not a quiet place because the engines make a constant hum that you get used to after a few hours. Sometimes people stop by just because they are waiting for a bus and they see us working. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small space to keep the books and sit for a minute. The weather here in Andhra can get really hot, which makes the work inside the mill even tougher during the summer months. We just keep our heads down and get the orders finished so the trucks can take them out. It’s a basic life, but we know the people around here and they know us. We aren't trying to do anything fancy, just milling the dal like it should be done and staying busy with what we know.
