Out in Nidamanuru Post, you'll find Sree Venkateswara Engineering. We are a bit away from the main city buzz, which suits us just fine. The air is a little clearer here, even if we do make our own clouds of dust and smoke sometimes. Our workshop is where we spend most of our waking hours. It is a large, open space filled with tools, welding equipment, and various bits of machinery that are in for repair. There isn't much in the way of a garden or a fancy entrance, just a gravel path leading to the big sliding doors. We deal with a lot of heavy metal and mechanical parts, so our hands are usually stained with something that won't come off easily. People from the surrounding areas bring us their equipment when it stops working, and we do our best to figure out why. It is like solving a puzzle every day. The work is physical and can be exhausting when the sun is beating down on the tin roof. We take breaks under the shade of the trees nearby when we can. Nidamanuru is a quiet place and we have become part of the landscape over the years. We don't use any fancy computer systems to track things; we mostly rely on our notebooks and our memory. It is a honest way to earn a living, and we take pride in the stuff we fix.
