Surumi Wood Crafts

Surumi Wood Crafts is Shop No. 5 in North Beypur. We are very close to the Beypur High School, which is the main landmark around here. Beypur has a long history with wood, and we are just one small part of that tradition. Our shop isn’t huge. It’s packed with different kinds of timber and the smell of wood oil. When the school bell rings, the street gets really crowded with kids, but otherwise, it’s a fairly peaceful spot. We have a few benches where we do the carving and the joining. It’s mostly hand tools here. We don’t like the noise of the big industrial machines if we can help it. The shop is open to the street, so we get a lot of dust, but it also lets in the breeze from the coast. We don’t have a fancy sales team. If you come by, you’ll likely find us with a chisel in hand. We just make what people ask for, mostly household items or small crafts. It’s a steady way to make a living. We’ve been at Shop No. 5 for a long time now. The wood we use is mostly local, and we try to use every bit of it so nothing goes to waste. It’s just a simple life in a town that knows its wood, and we're glad to be part of it.
