R.R. Wood Crafts

Down here in Patteri, things move at their own pace. We are R.R. Wood Crafts, and we’ve been working out of this spot in Kottoli for quite some time. The yard is usually full of timber pieces and there is almost always a layer of fine sawdust covering the floor. It gets on your clothes and in your hair, but you stop noticing it after the first hour. We spend most of our mornings sorting through wood and making sure the saws are sharp. It’s not the cleanest work, and our hands are usually rough from the grain and the tools we use. The rain sometimes slows us down when the yard gets muddy, but we just move everything inside and keep going. We don’t have a big office or a secretary answering phones. Usually, one of us just wipes their hands on a rag and picks up the call. Most of the people who come to see us are locals from around Kottoli who need something fixed or built for their homes. We don’t spend money on big ads or flashy signs. We just have our name on the gate and a bunch of wood waiting to be turned into something useful. Sometimes we have a few extra scraps left over that the neighbors take for their stoves. It’s a plain way to make a living, but the smell of fresh cut wood is better than an office any day.
