Structural Detailing Engineer

This office is basically part of Sreevalsam House in Perode, which is near Nadapuram in Calicut. It’s a home-based setup mostly. Sudheep handles the structural detailing here. Being in Kerala, the surroundings are quite green, especially when it rains, which happens a lot. Working from the Perode Post Office area means we are away from the main city rush of Calicut, which is nice because detailing requires a lot of concentration. You can’t really rush those drawings. We spend hours looking at every small connection and rebar placement. It gets quiet in the afternoons, and you can hear the birds outside. Sometimes the neighbors stop by for a chat while we are in the middle of a project. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. People in Nadapuram usually know where Sreevalsam House is. The work involves a lot of technical software and checking dimensions over and over. It can be tedious but it has to be right. We have our computers set up and there are always rolls of drawings in the corner. If you are coming from the main road, you just head towards Perode. It is a simple life here, balancing the technical work with the pace of a small town. We drink a lot of tea and just keep moving through the pile of drawings on the desk. Every line we draw matters for the safety of the building, so we take our time. It is just the way things are done here at the house.
