Saico Spices

Saico Spices is run out of Fathima Manzil in the Pantheerankavu Olavanna P.O. area. It is basically a family-run operation where we handle various types of spices. The smell around here is very strong, usually a mix of pepper, turmeric, and whatever else we are sorting that morning. Our hands are often stained with colors from the different powders. We use some old grinders and sieves that have been in the family for a long time. They make a lot of noise, but they still work better than the newer ones we tried once. We don't have a big factory. Most of the work is done in a space that used to be part of the house. We spend a lot of time cleaning the spices by hand to make sure no stones or bits of dirt get through. It’s slow work and can be a bit tiring on the back, but it's what we know how to do. We sell to the local shops and sometimes directly to neighbors who walk in. There is no big sign outside, just the sound of the machines and the scent in the air. We don't use fancy packaging with bright pictures. We just use plain bags that show what is inside. It is just us working away every day to get the orders finished. It is a humble business, and we prefer it that way because we can keep an eye on everything ourselves.
