Gita Kannan Spices

Gita Kannan Spices is a small place located at 54H in Kattumpuram. The first thing you notice when you get near our shop is the strong smell of all the different spices we have. It gets in your clothes and stays there all day. We spend a lot of time weighing out different seeds and powders and putting them into bags for the day's orders. The building at 54H is a bit cramped but we make use of every inch of space we have on the shelves. In Kattumpuram, the weather can get quite damp, so we have to be careful about how we store things to keep everything dry and fresh. We have been running Gita Kannan Spices for quite a while now. Most of our work is repetitive, like filling containers and cleaning up the dust that the spices leave behind. It makes you sneeze if you aren't careful. We use a couple of old scales that have been with us since the beginning. They still work fine so we haven't seen a reason to change them. Sometimes it gets a bit loud with the traffic outside, but inside we just focus on the orders we have to get through. It is a simple way of living and working. We usually have our lunch together in the back room before getting back to the afternoon rush of packing. It is just how life is here at 54H in Kattumpuram for our small team.
