Medical College Hospital

Working at the Medical College Hospital over in Gandhi Nagar is definitely an experience. Since we’re near the Po Gandhi Nagar, we get a lot of mail and people coming in from the surrounding areas. The hospital grounds are pretty spread out. You have to walk a bit to get from the main gate to the actual hospital building. The trees outside give some shade, which is nice when it gets really hot in the afternoons. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze. We have posters on the walls that have been there for years, mostly showing charts or health reminders that have faded a bit from the sun. The benches in the hallway are almost always occupied. You see people sitting there with their bags, waiting for their turn or just taking a break. It gets loud during the middle of the day with all the chatter and the sound of trolleys being pushed across the tile floors. Our staff is usually rushing around with clipboards. We don’t have much time for sitting down until the shift is almost over. Sometimes the power flickers and we all just wait a second for the backup to kick in. It’s just a regular hospital life here in Gandhi Nagar. It’s crowded and busy, and there’s always something that needs fixing, but we just keep showing up and doing what needs to be done for whoever walks in. It stays pretty busy from morning until night.
