Swastik Mava Bhandar

Swastik Mava Bhandar is tucked away in Gumanpura. If you walk past, you’ll probably smell the milk cooking before you see the sign. We start our work very early, way before the sun comes up, because that’s when the fresh milk arrives. It takes a long time to make good mava, and you have to stand over the big pots for hours. It gets very hot in the shop, especially in the middle of summer, but that is just part of the job. We don't have air conditioning or anything fancy like that. Gumanpura is a busy place, but inside here, we just focus on the milk and the heat. Our counters are plain and we don’t use any fancy packaging. Most of our customers are people from the neighborhood or other shop owners who have known us for years. We don’t spend money on advertising because we are too busy working in the back. Sometimes the floor gets a bit slippery from the steam and the milk, so we have to be careful. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s a messy, hot, and tiring job, but it’s what we know how to do. We don't make any big promises, we just show up every morning and start the fires to get the milk boiling so that everything is ready when the customers start arriving.
