New Agrawal Mawa Center

In the heart of Gumanpura, we run the New Agrawal Mawa Center. Our work revolves around mawa, which means we are usually surrounded by large containers of it. The mornings are our busiest time because that is when the fresh stock arrives and we have to get everything ready for the day. Mawa is a heavy, thick product, so there is a lot of physical labor involved in moving it and weighing it out for our customers. The shop has a very specific smell, sweet and milky, that stays in the air all day long. During the festival seasons, the place gets incredibly crowded and we barely have time to sit down. People come from all over to get what they need for making sweets at home. We have a basic setup with a big counter and some cold storage in the back to keep things fresh. It is not a fancy place with decorations; it is a center meant for business and getting people what they need. We have been in Gumanpura for a while, and we know many of the local halwais and families who come to us regularly. The floor is often a bit damp from cleaning, and we wear simple clothes because the work can be a bit messy. It is a straightforward way to make a living, focusing on one thing and doing it every day. We just keep the mawa moving and try to keep up with the demand from the neighborhood.
