We've been at H 408 D in the Industrial Area for quite a while now. It's usually a bit noisy around here with all the machines running at Model Engineering. Most days start pretty early because there's always something that needs fixing or a part that has to be turned on the lathe. We spend a lot of time looking at drawings and handling heavy pieces of metal. The floor isn't always the cleanest, but that's just how a workshop is when you're actually doing the work every day. Sometimes it gets really hot under the metal roof, especially in the long afternoons. People come by when they have a technical problem they can't figure out themselves, and we do our best to help. It’s not a fancy office with air conditioning or soft chairs. We have our workbenches and our hand tools, and that’s about it really. Sometimes a specific job takes a lot longer than we first thought it would, but we try to stay until it’s finished properly. Living and working in the Ind Area means you get used to the constant sound of trucks and the dust in the air. We know the neighbors around H 408 D pretty well by now. It’s just a regular place where we do engineering work day in and day out. Nothing too complicated to explain to anyone. If you happen to walk past, you'll probably hear the grind of metal or see one of us covered in a bit of black oil. That's just the way things go here at Model Engineering. We like it that way.
