Masum General Store

Masum General Store is located in Nayapura. It’s one of those shops where you can find almost anything small you might need for the house. We have notebooks for the school kids, bars of soap, and plastic buckets hanging from the ceiling. Nayapura is a lively area, and our shop sits right on the street where everyone walks by. The space inside is quite tight because we try to fit a lot of items onto the shelves. I usually spend the afternoon sorting through new stock or checking the dates on things. The front of the store has a small counter where I sit. It’s a bit worn out on the edges. Sometimes the neighbor’s cat comes and sits near the door for a bit. The walls are lined with all kinds of packages in different colors. We have a small overhead fan that helps when it gets humid. People from the nearby houses come in for a quick item they forgot to buy elsewhere. It isn't a large place, but it serves the purpose. Being in Nayapura means there is always something happening outside the door. We keep the broom behind the counter to sweep out the dirt that blows in from the road. The shop doesn't have a big sign, just the name Masum General Store on the front. It’s a simple life running a shop like this, just keeping things organized and helping out the neighbors. I usually close the shutters once the evening market starts to quiet down and the street lamps come on.
