You can find M N General Store at Indira Market Indra Market 232. We’ve been here for a long time, right in the middle of all the noise and bustle. The shop is filled with everything from bags of rice and flour to soap and matchboxes. It’s a tight squeeze inside because we try to stock as much as possible for the locals. I start early in the morning, taking deliveries from the trucks and stacking the heavy crates. My back usually aches by noon. We don’t have a computer system or anything fancy. I just write things down in a big ledger and keep the change in a wooden drawer. Indira Market is always crowded, so there’s a constant stream of people asking for milk or tea leaves. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use candles to see the shelves. It’s just part of life here. We know which neighbors like which brand of cooking oil. It’s not a supermarket where you wander around with a cart. You just tell me what you need across the counter and I get it for you.
