Krishna General Store

You can find Krishna General Store right on Station Road where there is always someone rushing to catch a train. Because of the location, we sell a lot of small items like water bottles, pens, and travel-sized toiletries. The shop is quite small, but we try to fit as much as we can on the walls. We have snacks hanging from the ceiling in plastic strips which makes the place look even smaller. The noise from the station is constant, with the whistles and the announcements echoing through the doorway all day. We stay open pretty early to catch the first commuters and stay until the last few trains pass through at night. It’s a fast-paced spot because nobody has much time to talk when they are worried about their platform number. We keep a lot of change ready in the drawer because everyone seems to have big notes. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit but it helps move the air around. Dealing with so many strangers every day is different from the shops deeper in the residential areas. We see a lot of tired faces and heavy bags passing by our counter. Sometimes someone will ask for directions to the ticket counter and we point them toward the main gate. The floor gets muddy when it rains because of all the feet coming in and out. It’s just how things are on Station Road and we’ve gotten used to the constant movement.
