Kanchan Selection

If you walk down Mohan Takies Road in Keshavpura, you will find us at Kanchan Selection right in the Super Market. It is a bit of a crowded area, but that is what makes it lively. We have been here for a good amount of time, mostly focusing on clothes and fabrics that people use for their daily wear. Every morning, I have to move the racks around so there is enough room for people to walk in without bumping into each other. It’s a tight fit, especially when we get a fresh batch of stock in. I try to keep things organized, but by the afternoon, everything is usually in a bit of a pile because customers like to touch and feel the material. That’s just part of the job, I guess. We don’t have those fancy air conditioners, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day long. Sometimes it gets really hot in the summer, but we stay open anyway. We know most of the people who come in because they live just a few streets away. It’s nice to catch up on the local gossip while we measure out the fabric or help someone find the right size. It’s not a glamorous business, and some days are slower than others when the rain keeps everyone indoors. We just keep the lights on and wait for the next person to walk in. It’s a steady way to spend the day for us in this corner of the market.
