About Alok Candles – Housewares & Supplies in Kota
We set up Alok Candles right here near the Baalabh Bari Taalab. Being so close to the water is nice, though the mosquitoes can get a bit much in the evenings. Our workshop is where all the melting and pouring happens. It’s a messy job, honestly. There is always some wax spilled on the floor or a scent that lingers too long in the air. We make all sorts of candles, from the plain white ones people use when the power goes out to some nicer ones for festivals. It is a small operation. My family helps out, and we have a couple of neighbors who come in when things get busy. We don’t use any big machines, just some basic molds and our hands. The process is slow, but that’s just how it goes here. You can usually find us around the back near the pond. People from the area know where we are because they see the smoke or smell the paraffin. We aren't trying to be a huge brand or anything. We just want to make sure the candles burn right and don’t drip too much. Sometimes the batches don't come out perfect, and we have to melt them down and start over. That's life in a small shop. If you walk past the pond, you'll see our door. It's usually open to let the heat out. We’ve been at this for years now and we just take it day by day, really.
