Kailash General Store

Kailash General Store is located at shop number 77 in Vijay Market, which is right by Chhawani Chouraha. Being in a market like this means there is always something going on and plenty of people walking past the front of the shop. We sell all kinds of general household items, ranging from toiletries to snacks and small kitchen supplies. The shop is quite narrow, and we’ve had to put up shelves all the way to the top to fit everything in. We often have to use a long stick or a ladder to get things down for customers. It's a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are trying to look at things at the same time. We don't have any fancy electronics for our sales; we just use a simple cash box and write our accounts in a diary. The market can be very noisy with all the other shopkeepers and the traffic from the Chouraha nearby. We’ve been here in Vijay Market for a long time now and have seen many other shops come and go. Most of our customers are regulars who live in the nearby apartments. They stop by on their way home to pick up things they need for their families. We don't do any promotions or special offers. We just try to keep a good variety of items so that people can find what they are looking for without having to go too far. It’s a simple way to spend the day.
