Jain Provision Store

My family has been at Jain Provision Store on Udyog Marg for a long time now. It’s right there in Indra Gandhi Nagar near the D C M Road crossing. Every morning starts the same way for us. I unlock the heavy iron shutters early because people around here need their milk and bread before heading to work. The shop isn't huge but we try to keep most things people ask for daily, like lentils, sugar, and different kinds of soaps. You’ll see bags of rice stacked in the corner and rows of spices that sometimes get a bit dusty if the wind picks up from the road. I spend a lot of my afternoon just checking what’s running low and writing it down on a scrap of paper so I don't forget to order more. It gets busy in the evenings when everyone comes back home from their jobs. Sometimes I forget to eat my lunch on time because a delivery truck arrives right at noon and I have to help unload the crates. We handle a lot of small change here, and my hands usually feel a bit grimy by the end of the day. The neighborhood has changed over the years, with more traffic on D C M Road lately, but the shop stays mostly the same. My son helps out sometimes when he’s not busy. It is just a regular place where people stop by to get their kitchen supplies and maybe complain about the weather. I know most of the faces that walk in. It’s a lot of work keeping everything organized on the shelves, but it’s what we do every single day.
