Jain Dairy

Started the shop years ago in Rampura Bazar. Every morning, the milk trucks come early, usually while the street is still quiet and the sun is just starting to come up. We get the heavy cans inside and start measuring things out for the day. People from the neighborhood stop by before they head off to work to get their daily supply of milk or maybe some fresh curd we made the night before. The shop isn't big, just enough space for the coolers and the wooden counter where we stand. Sometimes it gets quite crowded when three or four people are waiting at once, and the narrow street outside gets loud with the sound of scooters and people talking. We try to keep things clean, but it’s a busy place with a lot of movement and wet floors. You can usually find us here from the very early hours until late in the evening. There is always something that needs doing, like cleaning out the steel containers or checking the temperature in the fridge. It is a simple life, mostly just talking to the regulars who have been coming to us for a long time. We know most of their names and what they usually buy without them even asking. Rampura Bazar is a hectic place, but inside the shop, we just focus on the dairy work. Some days are hotter than others, which makes keeping everything cold even more of a task. We don’t have fancy signs or anything like that. Just the name on the front and the same old counter.
