If you’re ever near the petrol pump in Gumanpura, you’ll probably see Gupta Watch Emporium. It’s a small shop tucked away right there. We have been fixing watches and selling new ones for quite a long time. The smell of petrol from next door is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We have a small workbench in the back where I sit with a magnifying glass most of the day. It’s a lot of fine work, and sometimes my eyes get tired by the afternoon. We have glass cabinets filled with different watches, some old and some newer styles. The flooring is a bit worn out from all the people coming in and out. Gumanpura is a busy area, so there’s always someone stopping by to ask for the time or to get a new strap. We don't really do much besides watches. My cousin helps out on the weekends when it gets a bit more crowded. We have an old fan that makes a clicking noise, but it keeps the air moving. It’s a simple life running a shop like this. We don’t have a big team or anything like that. Just a few of us making sure people can keep track of their time. Sometimes we run out of certain batteries and have to wait for the delivery man to come through the traffic. It’s just a normal local business in the neighborhood where we know our customers by sight.
