Gopal General Store

You can find us in Shakti Bazar, which is right near the Ganesh Mandir on Shripura Road here in Kota. Being so close to the temple means we see a lot of people every day, especially during the festival times. Our shop is a typical general store in the middle of a busy market area. We spend a lot of time just arranging the items on the racks and making sure we haven't run out of the basics. Kota City can get quite hot, so we usually have the fan going while we wait for customers. It is a simple business, nothing too complicated about it. We stock what people in Shripura ask for. Sometimes the shop feels a bit small when we have too much stock, but we manage to keep it going. There’s always someone coming in for a small thing they need for their kitchen or just a quick snack. We don’t have any fancy signs or big displays. It is just the name Gopal General Store on the front and a lot of stuff inside. Most of our day is spent talking to the other shopkeepers in the bazaar or helping someone find a specific brand of soap. It's just local life in Rajasthan, really. We open up in the morning, do our work, and head home when the market starts to quiet down at night.
