Dinesh Rasoi Masala

We are over at Kota Junction in Vijay Market. It’s a busy place with people coming and going from the trains all the time. My father started this because spices are what everyone needs every day. We spend most of our mornings opening bags and checking what came in. The air in the shop always smells like turmeric and ground chilies, which makes you sneeze if you aren't used to it. We don't have a big website or a fancy office with air conditioning. It’s just a regular shop where we grind things and pack them up in plastic bags. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the stools until it comes back. People from the neighborhood stop by, mostly regulars who have been coming for years. We know their faces and what they usually buy. It isn’t complicated work, just keeping the bins full and making sure the quality is okay. If you walk past the station, you can usually find us without much trouble. We don't do much advertising because the word of mouth around the market keeps us busy enough. The floor is usually covered in a bit of dust from the powders, and we spend a lot of time sweeping. It’s just how it is when you work with masalas. We keep things simple here at Dinesh Rasoi Masala and just focus on getting through the day’s orders.
