Celesty Ice Cream

Unit 33 and 34 in Rawa Bhata are where we spend our days. It's an industrial area, so don't expect a pretty storefront. We are Celesty Ice Cream, and our focus is on production rather than selling single scoops to people walking by. The trucks come in and out all morning. It’s noisy and there’s always a bit of grease and smoke in the air from the neighbors. We have a pretty large cold storage area. That’s the heart of the whole place. If the temperature fluctuates even a little, we all start panicking. We aren't corporate people with ties and meetings. We wear aprons and heavy boots. The floor is concrete and stays cold even when it’s boiling outside. We’ve been here for a few years now. The paperwork is handled on a messy desk in the back. Sometimes the labels on the tubs get smudged, but the product inside is fine. We supply to different vendors around the city. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and moving crates into the vans at 4 AM. We don't have any fancy mission statement. We just make sure the ice cream stays frozen and gets to where it’s going on time. It’s a tough business with the electricity costs always going up, but we manage. Rawa Bhata is our home base and we’ve gotten used to the noise of the machines.
