About Government Girls Higher Secondary School – Education in Korba
People in Akaltara know us pretty well since we've been here for a long time. It’s usually quite loud in the mornings when the girls arrive at the gate in their uniforms. The school is right here in Janjgir Champa, and we have several rooms that stay quite warm during the summer months. We spend a lot of time just keeping up with the daily stuff, like fixing the benches or making sure the water coolers are working. Most of our teachers live nearby so they walk or take a cycle to get here. It isn’t fancy at all. We have a playground that gets quite dusty when there’s no rain, but the kids don't seem to mind much when they're playing during the break. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to open all the windows and keep going with the lessons. It’s a government place, so we follow all the standard rules and do a lot of paperwork. Parents come by to ask about their daughters, especially when exams are coming up soon. We try to keep the garden at the front looking decent, though the goats sometimes get in through the fence. It’s just a regular school day for us most of the time. We see the girls grow up from young kids to young women before they move on to college or other things. That's just how it goes here in our corner of Akaltara.
