Shivaganga Tours Travels

Car Street is where you’ll find our little office, right in the middle of all the Kollur action. Shivaganga Tours Travels isn't a big operation, just a few of us trying to help people get around. This street gets incredibly crowded, especially when there’s a festival at the temple, and our door is usually open to catch a bit of a breeze. We’ve got a handful of cars and some larger vans for the groups that come through. Most of the work involves talking to pilgrims and figuring out the best routes through the hills so they aren't stuck in traffic all day. The office itself is pretty plain, just some old chairs and a desk covered in ledgers and keys. You can hear the temple bells from here all day long. Sometimes the rain comes down so hard the street turns into a river, and we just have to wait for it to clear before sending the cars out. It's a lot of coordination, making sure drivers are awake and the vehicles are fueled up. We aren't doing anything fancy or high-tech. It’s just about getting people to their destination and making sure the tires are good. We know these roads better than anyone else because we’ve been driving them for years. It’s a busy life here on Car Street, but we like being where the people are. We usually have a pot of coffee going for any driver who just finished a long trip.
